Welcome to Hilltop-Durban

We, Ulla and Dieter Schmidt, would like to welcome you to our home, The Hilltop-Durban B&B in Doonside, Amanzimtoti and invite you to share our hospitality and enjoy the ambience of our high up on the hill overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Hilltop-Durban B & B was formerly a farm house dating back 100 years and was on the original homes in the area.

We offer several different styles of accommodations depending on what you are looking for. We have Twin, Double and Family rooms that are en-suite with a private patio. Our rooms also come with a Mini Fridge, Flat Screen TV, Basic DSTV, Tea & Coffee trays, Fans, Mini-Safe, Hair Dryer and all the little things to make your stay hassle free and enjoyable.

You can relax or read a book under a huge Flamboyant tree in our beautiful, mature garden or cool off in our swimming pool after an exciting day of exploring the many attractions our area has to offer. The Braai area invites you to prepare your catch after a hectic day of fishing. And when the morning comes a sumptuous buffet breakfast will be waiting for you.

Come and spend some time at Hilltop B&B for a truly relaxing getaway. But if adventure is what you are looking for, the South Coast has everything you can imagine including beautiful, endless beaches. For the whole family an outing to the u’Shaka Marine World or the popular Harbour Cruise, the Golden Mile, not to forget the unique experience of a bygone era: a journey on the Umgeni Steam Train through the Valley of a Thousand Hills.

From Hilltop-Durban B&B everything is within easy reach. For the experienced Scuba Diver the Protea Banks are a must, whereas Aliwal Shoal, some 5 KM in length is one of the largest reefs on the South African coastline, will enchant you with its easier accessible gullies, dramatic drop-offs, pinnacles and blow-holes.

For the Golf Enthusiast there is an endless choice of some of the most scenic and challenging Golf courses: Selbourne, Umkomaas, Amanzimtoti, Royal Durban, Mount Edgecombe, Princes Grant and Zimbali, just to name a view.
